To live a healthy life there are 4 things that we need to try and do right. If one of these things isn't done then that may be the reason that we are not seeing the results or as healthy as we could be
The correct diet is important for achieving your goals. If you aren't giving your body what it needs then it can not work properly. It is important to make sure that you are getting a good balance of fats, carbohydrates and protein. However it is just as important that you are getting all the vitamins and minerals that you need as well. Most of the food we eat today is processed and refined, this means a lot of the things we need has been taken out and a lot of additives we don't need have been put in. Try and use as many unprocessed, real, natural foods as possible and your body will thank you
The human body is designed to move. Unfortunately for most people their days consist of getting up, sitting in a car, sitting in an office and then sitting in front of the TV at night. Long term sitting has been shown to cause lots of long term health problems. The key to stopping this is to start moving more. You don't need to go to the gym. Start taking walks outside, take the stairs, stand up every 30 minutes at work for a quick walk. The key is to sit less and move more
Your body needs sleep. It needs 7-8 hours every night. A lack of sleep has been linked to causing lots of different types of diseases, such as obesity, diabetes and heart disease. Without it your body can not recover properly. You may notice that you get ill easily, or you pick up small injuries, or that you have small aches and pains that never really heal. Unfortunately we all seem to be getting less and less sleep and this is because of our bad habits. Make your bedroom a place for sleeping (don't have a TV, curtains drawn, not too hot), have a night time routine and a bed time, and don't use mobiles or tablets in bed!
Sleep, exercise and diet are all things that we can control. Unfortunately we can not always control the amount of stress in our lives. The problem is that even if everything else is done right, if you are constantly stressed then this has negative effects on our health and fitness. If it is not managed properly, long term stress can increase the risk of lots of diseases. The key is to identify what is causing the stress and draw up a plan to reduce it or remove it from your life
