Have you noticed that your skin looks better or worse depending on what you eat? That is because the food we eat is very important for keeping our skin healthy. To help you I have written a list of 5 foods that are great for keeping your skin looking great.
Olive Oil
Olive oil is great for your skin if you eat it or if you put it directly on your skin! You can use it as a moisturiser for dry skin by adding it directly using a cotton ball. Or drizzle some over your favourite salad and you will be getting lots of Vitamin A and Vitamin E (these are both important for skin health).
Avocado
Avocado contains lots of nutrients that keeps our skin healthy like Vitamin C and E. It is surprisingly high in Vitamin C which is needed to produce collagen. Collagen is what helps keep our skin firm (reduced collagen in our skin is why we get wrinkles). Vitamin E helps protect our skin from damage and signs of ageing.
Dark Chocolate
Dark chocolate is rich in flavanols (a type of antioxidant) which helps hydrate skin and improve circulation. Both hydration and good circulation are vital for healthy looking skin. However it is only dark chocolate (at least 70% cocoa) and not normal chocolate that contains enough flavanols to be beneficial.
Walnuts
Most nuts are good for keeping your skin healthy but walnuts are one of the best. This is because they contain Omega 3 Fatty Acids that help keep your skin elastic. They also contain lots of copper, another nutrient that is needed to produce collagen
Water
I know that water isn't really a food but it is so important that I could not miss it out. One of the most important things for healthy looking skin is to stay hydrated and you can not do that without drinking enough water every day. Enough said!
