Granola is great for breakfast, a snack or as a topping for lots of different desserts. Unfortunately granola from the supermarket can have lots of added sugar and preservatives. So here is a simple recipe, with very few ingredients, to make your own granola at home
Ingredients
- 3 cups oats
- 1/2 cup walnuts – chopped
- 1/2 cup unsweetened apple sauce
- 1/3 cup honey
- 3 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp salt
Method
- Preheat your oven to 120 degrees C
- Put your oats and walnuts in a large mixing bowl
- In a separate bowl, mix all remaining ingredients
- Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the oats and nuts and mix them well.
- Place baking paper on a baking tray and lay the mixture evenly on the tray
- Bake for 45-60 minutes, stirring every 10 to 15 minutes so it doesn’t burn. It’s done when it feels dry and has a nice golden brown color
