I hope you all had a happy Christmas and enjoyed the holiday and all the fantastic food. If you did overeat, don't worry! Everyone overeats sometimes (me too) and it does not mean all your hard work is wasted. The important thing is not to panic. To help you here are some tips to help you recover.

Forgive Yourself

This is the most important bit. Many people get angry at themselves after they indulge. But that means they end up fearing holidays like Easter and Christmas or events like birthdays and weddings. These special events are times we are meant to enjoy. So don't worry about it, you have nothing to be sorry for!

Don't Over react

The main problem people have is that they go on an extreme diet or exercise plan after a binge. They will starve themselves or try and go for a 10 mile run. Extreme dieting or exercise will only cause you more problems in the long run, as it may make you ill.

Keep Moving

However this doesn't mean that you should do nothing. After a big meal try going for a walk outside. Take your children, dog, partner or a friend and go and enjoy the fresh air. You will feel better, I promise.

Drink Water

Drinking water is important anyway. This will help with digestion and can help reduce any bloating you may get after overeating. Peppermint or ginger tea is good as well. However try and stay away from alcohol and fizzy drinks!

Get back into your Healthy Routine

Get back into your healthy routine as soon as possible. Don't skip breakfast the next day, don't miss your workout if you have one planned. You may still feel a little tired from the previous day so take it a little bit easier. But by getting straight back into your normal routine of eating healthily and exercising, you will feel a lot better!
