I have to admit that I really do miss crisps. That's why I keep looking for an alternative that is not loaded with calories and has good nutrition. I have tried to make crisps from a variety of vegetables like plantains, sweet potatoes, beetroot, carrot, apples and now kale. They taste great and they are very easy to make. So now we have something to munch on while watching a good film.
You need:
- 5 kale leaves
- salt
- pepper
- chilli paprika
- 2-3 tsp olive oil
How to do it:
- Remove the stems from the leaves
- Cut the leaves into large pieces (they will shrink as you bake them) and place into a plastic bowl
- Add the olive oil, salt, pepper and paprika to the kale
- Mix the kale well until all the leaves are evenly coated
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees celsius
- Place the kale in a single layer on baking trays (make sure you use baking paper as well)
- Bake in the oven for about 10 minutes (make sure to check them as they can burn very quickly once ready)
- Take them out and allow to cool for a few minutes before serving them
