Many people ask me what I buy when I go shopping for food. So in this article I am going to give you a few tips on how to create a shopping list and also ell you some of the most common things I buy when I go shopping.
Tip 1
Plan your meals first. If you do not know what you are going to cook then you can't work out what you need to buy. To save time I normally choose one or two dishes that I can make in large amounts. This means that I then only have to cook once or twice during the week.
Tip 2
Have a shopping list on your fridge. This means that as you run out of something you can put it straight onto the list.
Tip 3
Divide your list up into sections. All supermarkets group certain foods together (fruit and vegetables, dry foods, fresh meat, dairy etc). Divide your list up into these groups and this will help you save time as you are shopping
Tip 4
Never go shopping when you are hungry! This can cause you to pick up snacks or junk food.
Below is an example of a shopping list and the sort of food I buy.
Vegetables
Fruit
Dairy
Dry Food
Canned Food
Frozen Food
Fresh Meat
I hope this has given you some ideas of what to buy in the supermarket and how to draw up a healthy shopping list. If you only keep healthy food in your house then you won't be tempted to eat processed snacks.
